LT. GEN. PONOS'S INTERVIEW TO ECONOMIST MAGAZINE
The surplus of military property considering the rise of property prices in the last couple of years is estimated to be worth something over 2 billion €. Some twenty building worth approximately 300 million € could soon be sold. Should the money generated from the sale be used to fund the army, it would soon resolve all problems which have accumulated over the years without burdening the budget of Serbia. Currently, the army spends over 2 million € alone just to guard and secure these objects. |

WEAPONS SHIPMENT FOR KOSOVO AS A QUESTIONABLE POLITICAL DECISION
BELGRADE, 25 March (Tanjug) – Chief of SAF GS General LTG Zdravko Ponos has given his estimate today that the decision concerning the shipment of American military equipment to Kosovo does not represent a military threat to Serbia, yet in terms of politics, this is a politically incorrect, inappropriate and a wrong decision to make. |

GENERAL PONOS IN POLYGRAPH ON B92
The decision of the Government of Serbia to annul all possible decisions of Kosovo temporary institutions are a proper and adequate decision to this act of legal and political violation which these decisions entail. The reactions of state bodies are appropriate and that can be seen from these decisions. Many ministries have undertaken drafting their respective action plans, which have been verified. The army, unlike other ministries, which have only recently drawn up and have had these documents adopted by the Government, has its own plans, and our plan dates back to April last year, so there is no reason to react nervously to these circumstances. There is nothing unknown to us in our job. Finally, the only right reaction to such acts of legal violence is exactly what the Government has done. |

GENERAL PONOS’S INTERVIEW TO “BLIC” DAILY |
| At this point there are no dangers of military nature which would require further deployment of our armed forces. An unfavorable solution to Kosovo status and possible unilateral declaration of Kosovo’s independence is not a problem to be dealt with by deploying armed forces. Declarating the state of emergency is just a hypothesis, and automatically, the state of emergency does not imply an automatic deployment of the army. The line of command remains the same, as the army is functioning now as well as in the state of emergency based on the proposals of SAF GS to the President of Serbia; the President accepts these proposals and issues orders” says General Zdravko Ponos in his interview to “Blic” daily. |

MAJOR GENERAL FORCA'S INTERVIEW TO "VECERNJE NOVOSTI" DAILY |
There are different points of view which have to be taken into account when we talk of arms and equipment in the Army. Firstly, they are viewed according to missions and tasks of the Army which are defined by the Strategic Defense Review. Secondly, and in line, according ton the structure of commands, units and institutions are the determining factors for procuring equipment and arms. And the third factor is the funds available for the modernization of existing and procuring new resources. In general both arms and equipment are in related as follows task-organization-need-possibility.

THE SERBIAN ARMED FORCES TORN BETWEEN WISHES AND NEEDS
We were very careful to create an army within the budget yet tailored to face all security challenges. This means constant compromise between what you can and have to do, taking into consideration operational needs, also acknowledging he needs in the South of Serbia and possible trouble with Kosovo and Metohija province, as well as other potential danger zones, but also the funds as well.

EURO-ATLANTIC INTEGRATIONS ARE OUR MISSION |
The Partnership for Peace Program has not opened doors to special units of our armed forces for cooperation with similar units in the region and NATO member states, as this form of cooperation started several years ago. Unlike other units in the Armed Forces, the Special Brigade and individual units which are now part of the Special Brigade, have already collaborated with similar units-says Col. Ilija Todorov, Commander of the Special Brigade of the Armed forces of Serbia.
